Equipping Leaders: Leadership Programme

Providing sound and godly leadership in situations of vulnerability and deprivation is utterly critical. Strong leaders mean strong networks, successful projects, motivated carers, and ultimately changed children.

An effective leader must be able to give confidence and hope that the difficult and ceaseless work will ultimately be fruitful; that progression and development can be achieved; that a better future can be created. Managers and directors of organisations working in poverty-stricken situations are under intense pressure as they seek to match limited resources with large and ever-growing needs. Yet if leaders can be encouraged, strengthened, and grown we will see projects inspired and equipped to continue their tireless work with children at risk.

Viva’s Leadership Programme, currently being piloted in Latin America, is dedicated to growing leaders through a 3-year programme involving group study, discussion, mentoring, training, and care and support, enabling people to provide robust and visionary leadership to their teams, their communities, and the networks in which they serve.

Visionary leadership

“Shared exploration and learning, mutual accountability, the development of new ideas and ideals - these experiences are so very rare for the leaders who are called to work amongst the least and the lost of our world. Built upon a highly relational, interactive, and purposefully emotive and personal curriculum, the Leadership Programme is a retreat-based training initiative designed for small cohorts of fellow leaders to begin a journey of mutual partnership and visionary leadership that is envisaged to outlast the three-year cycle of the programme itself.”
