Your time could change lives ...
If you think you could offer a few hours or days on a regular basis, or even a chunk of a few weeks, and would like to know more about volunteering with us, then please contact Shelagh Windsor-Richards, HR & Operations Manager, at: hr@viva.org. Set out below are details of current volunteering vacancies at Viva:
Communications and Marketing Assistant
There is just so much to communicate and our busy Communications Manager, Beth, needs help!
What she would love is to have someone who has experience of communications/marketing to work alongside her and assist with various tasks, including:
- Writing copy for specific Viva publications
Working on a large media campaign
Helping with the organisation and promotion of events
Researching and writing regular press releases for local and national media
Writing copy for Viva’s website
If you are interested, have a look at the role description and then contact the HR Manager via the details at the foot of the page where you will also find a link to our application form.
Spanish Translator and/or Teacher
We have a Regional Centre in Costa Rica and reach out to many Spanish speaking Latin American countries so often need materials etc translated into Spanish. Can you help? The work would be on a fairly ad-hoc basis.
We also have several members of staff who would love to learn Spanish - can you teach and would you like to help out?
IT support
Do you have a day a week or a couple of half days that you could contribute and help our busy IT Manager as he supports our Oxford office staff as well as our IT people in Uganda, Costa Rica and India? If you are experienced in IT support or a skilled enthusiast who can learn quickly and are able to give an ongoing commitment, do please contact us for further discussion.
Web-based database development and maintenance
We have an exciting increasing need for this technology and only one pair of hands to provide it - help! Your experience and skills will probably include:
- Hands on experience of developing applications using a structured methodology
- Experience of web-based technology or qualifications including the following:
- SQL, PHP, JavaScript, Firebird database, MS Office Products, VBA6 (or other equivalent products).
Other Volunteering Opportunities:
Grounds maintenance/odd jobs: Do you enjoy gardening? We have some nice shrubs and trees that surround the car park and need to be kept in shape at various times in the year. Are you able to help out occasionally - particularly in summer and autumn? Occasionally other odd jobs arise that would be grateful to have help with. Please get in contact if you would enjoy contributing your time in this way.
Data entry: Basic but incredibly necessary, there is always plenty of data that needs entering and organising.
- YOU: We would also love to know what you're good at! If you want to spend some time with Viva, but don't think any of the above areas is your niche, then just get in touch and we'll see if we can find a way to fit you in.
Volunteering with Viva works two ways: it could also help you out! Volunteer work looks great on a CV, and could significantly enhance your skill set. We are committed to making sure that you get really involved in our work, and that you learn as much as you can from your time with us.
